The Pantheon

The Pantheon is a former Roman temple and, since AD 609, a Catholic church.

As the last activity in our ranking of the "10 things to do in Rome" we wanted to recommend a visit to this famous site, even if from May 2018 entry is no longer free but costs 2 euros.

But since the Pantheon is among the best preserved historical monuments in Rome, a visit inside is a must!

As the best-preserved example of an Ancient Roman monumental building, the Pantheon has been enormously influential in Western architecture from at least the Renaissance on; starting with Brunelleschi's 42-metre (138 ft) dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, completed in 1436.
