From Piazza Navona to Piazza di Spagna, there are several squares in Rome that are worth visiting.
First of all Piazza Navona, one of the best known in the city, always crowded, especially during the Christmas holidays, because it hosts the Christmas market and every 6 January the witch magically appears in the square. Its shape is similar to a stadium, because in ancient times it was filled with water and transformed into a war field for naval battles.
No less important, there is Piazza di Spagna with its wonderful stairways, up to the Church of Trinità di Monti. Also always super crowded with tourists.
It is worth mentioning Piazza Farnese, the most impressive Renaissance square in Rome, dominated by Palazzo Farnese, which houses the French embassy, wonderful buildings and beautiful fountains. But then there is Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Campo de' Fiori and many others, we have compiled a ranking of the 10 most beautiful squares in Rome, obviously all for free!
